The University of Washington conducts business using a decentralized model. Empowering departments, programs and offices to make their own decisions regarding purchases less than $10,000 means that you may connect directly with these decision makers. For purchases $10,000 or higher, departments work directly with Procurement Services for their buying decisions.
We recommend attending Procurement Services' monthly Supplier Orientation. Orientation allows suppliers to connect directly with contract staff, the Business Diversity Program and state buying representatives. We encourage not only attending, but also connecting directly with the Washington State Office of Minority Women & Business Enterprises (OMWBE) as another resource.
Below are a few examples of units to connect directly with at the University of Washington:
UW Facilities (UWF) plans, builds and manages comprehensive capital projects for university facilities at the UW campuses in Seattle and Tacoma, the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Friday Harbor Labs in San Juan in San Juan County, and other remote field research locations. Visit their website to learn more about contracting opportunities and current solicitations.
Housing & Food Services
Procurement Services work with campus departments and programs to source a wide range of goods and services from lab equipment to furniture to janitorial supplies. Attending their monthly orientation is a great way to do business with UW. Learn more about becoming a supplier with UW Procurement Services.
Small Business Fair
We look to connect our programs directly with suppliers whenever possible. During National Small Business Week, we host a fair/trade show to do just that. If you would like to get more information, please email BDE. Visit our gallery to see photos from past events.
